Macros: 40g P / 23g F / 48g C
After being in the fitness industry for over 15 years, you really start to know your way around creating a protein shake.
And with all that experience, I’ve developed a particular fondness for a particular set of high protein, mass building ingredients!
Also, if you like peanut butter, protein and banana …
You’re in for a treat!
First, you’ll need to gather:
- Almond Milk (or acceptable substitute) – 2 cups (16 oz)
- Red H Nutrition’s YES! Whey Protein – 1 scoop
- Red H Nutrition’s Pure Creatine – 1 scoop
- Nutricost L-Leucine – 1 scoop = 5 grams
- Wild Blueberries – 1 cup
- Peanut Butter – 2 TBSP
- Banana – 1 medium
There’s also a secret ingredient …
SPIRULINA! – 1 TSP
Spirulina is a “sea vegetable” and is a great source of oxygen boosting phytonutrients and help fight cell damage and promote recovery with antioxidants!
The next step is to put all the ingredients in a blender and turn on!
Personally, I prefer to use a Vitamix and blend on Power 4 for about :60 seconds.
(If you’ve always wanted a Vitamix, just get one. There is no comparison! I got mine on eBay and saved a ton!)
After mixing to your desired thickness/blendy-ness, transfer from blender to your favorite trendy Mason jar and enjoy! ?
I enjoy this on both workout and rest days …
Especially on rest days when I need to get some high quality calories in, but don’t have a lot of time left in the day to do so.
This is also a great post-workout recovery shake because it’s got high quality Red H Nutrition YES! Whey Protein which includes nearly 2g of BCAA L-Leucine.
Protein supplements high in L-Leucine, like YES! Whey, will promote muscle recovery and growth, leading to greater strength and less soreness after workouts!
Creatine is absolutely essential for any athlete wanting maximum recovery from workout to workout. (At least 5g daily has been shown to improve nearly every marker of fitness in active, generally healthy, adults!)
